Operation Fuel CEO Brenda Watson to step down

Operation Fuel, the Connecticut nonprofit that provides assistance to state residents who have difficulty covering their energy costs, announced that CEO Brenda Watson will be stepping down on Nov. 2.

Watson joined Operation Fuel in January 2010 as director of community programs and was named executive director in February 2018. Prior to joining the nonprofit, Watson was a
transportation planner with the Capitol Region Council of Governments.

Operation Fuel plans to name an interim CEO while a nationwide search for Watson’s successor is conducted.

“After nearly 14 years of service to this great organization, I am stepping down to pursue other opportunities focused on workforce development and economic empowerment,” said Watson in a statement. “For many years, I’ve promoted careers in this unique and evolving sector, and I recently accepted an offer to consult with the Northeast Home Energy Raters Alliance and I would like to focus my energy on advancing community economic development in the capitol city. I did not come to this decision lightly as I am leaving a position that I truly love. I am joyful in knowing that I leave this organization in the very capable hands of our board and staff, who all care very deeply about Operation Fuel and its mission.”
