Manhattanville offers nonprofit management certification

Manhattanville College’s School of Business is now offering a nonprofit management certificate designed for nonprofit leaders, board members, volunteers, employees and those interested in the nonprofit sector.

Manhattanville officials in a press release said the college assembled an advisory board of nonprofit leaders to create the program.

“We found that there was high demand for an academic-based program to teach the fundamental principles and skills needed to succeed in today”™s expanding nonprofit sector,” said Rhonna Goodman, director of the certificate program, in the press release. “Manhattanville”™s Nonprofit Management Certificate is designed to give people the knowledge needed to be effective leaders in the nonprofit world.”

The certification includes five modules that use face-to-face and video conference sessions. The topics of the modules are financial management, staff management, fundraising and development, external relations and marketing.

“Our modules directly address the skills that nonprofit leaders find most valuable,” said Anthony Davidson, dean of the Manhattanville School of Business.

Participants enroll in one module per month and can complete as many modules as they choose. Instructors are available for personal guidance after each module has been completed. Those who complete all five modules receive the certificate and are eligible to receive advanced standing in the Master of Science degree in business leadership at Manhattanville. Another two-week C-suite module is open to those who have completed the certification or who already have senior level experience.
