UNIVERSITY HIRES NEW DIRECTOR OF TITLE IX COMPLIANCE

Renee Garcia-Prajer, the Sacred Heart University (SHU) new director of Title IX compliance will ensure that the institution meets all government regulations related to Title IX while promoting the university’s culture of respect and equity.

Garcia-Prajer joined Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Connecticut, from Planetree International, a nonprofit health-care organization based in Derby, Connecticut, where she served as director of education. Prior to that, she was chief of staff at Salem Academy and College, in North Carolina. She also served as an associate dean at the University of New Haven (UNewHaven), following years as a tenured professor. While at UNewHaven, she worked on various Title IX teams and boards and conducted investigations, related to the law, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in schools that receive federal financial assistance.

In her new role at SHU, Garcia-Prajer will assist with case management, supportive measure coordination, training and reporting related to Title IX and other laws.
