TWO NEW SUMMER SALSAS AT DANBURY-BASED MEXICAN FOOD RESTAURANT

Salsa Fresca Mexican Grill, the fast-casual fresh Mexican food restaurant that’s rapidly expanding across New York and Connecticut suburbs, announced that it has added a new protein to its robust menu of signature and build-your-own items: Braised Beef Birria. This marks the first new protein to be added to Salsa Fresca’s menu since its Baja Chicken in 2020. In addition to its new protein, Salsa Fresca has also announced that two new house-made salsas are joining its lineup: Avocado Salsa and Tomato Jalapeño Salsa.

Originating from Mexico, birria is shredded beef in a consomé sauce traditionally served at celebratory occasions. Salsa Fresca’s Braised Beef Birria recipe, which is prepared from scratch three hours before opening each morning to ensure slow-cooked, juicy goodness, comes from one of its own people: Ehunice Chavez, a longtime regional manager with the brand. “I was born in Mexico and my mother is a chef who created this delicious Birria recipe and made it for our family often throughout my childhood,” said Chavez. “It brings me joy to share her recipe with Salsa Fresca and honor my heritage through my love of family and food.” Braised Beef Birria is responsibly sourced top round beef in a house-made adobo sauce flavored with a blend of morita chiles, yellow onion, garlic, ground cumin, bay leaves, oregano and thyme.

“All of the food at Salsa Fresca is delivered fresh, is never frozen and is prepared daily in each of our restaurants,” said John Tucker, one of Salsa Fresca’s local co-founders. “Birria is a flavorful, tender beef that takes our team hours to prepare and cook, and our customers are excited that they can finally experience Birria from a trusted fast-casual Mexican restaurant that’s committed to quality and big portions.”
