‘THE NUTCRACKER SHORT AND SWEET’

“Life is too short.  Eat Dessert First.”  The Hudson Valley Dance Theatre’s production of “The Nutcracker Short and Sweet” is not too short, but certainly very sweet. The ballerinas may be younger than those on stage at Lincoln Center, but the performers of the Hudson Valley Dance Theatre in Peekskill will dance an hour-long narrated version of popular scenes from the holiday classic with such emotion and grace that you will think they are far beyond their years. Experience the wonder and sprit of your favorite passages from P.I. Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker right here in the Hudson Valley.

There will be two performances of Nutcracker Short and Sweet on Sunday, Dec. 8, at The Paramount Hudson Valley Theatre at 1 and 5 p.m. Advance ticket sales are available at paramounthudsonvalley.com. Tickets are $20 for children and $25 for adults.

Under the artistic direction of Aggie Kimple, the 2024 Hudson Valley Dance Theatre presentation of Nutcracker Short and Sweet was choreographed by Ann Cerone, Louisa Flaningam, Aggie Kimple, Anastasia Edson, and Helen McLennan.

Founded in 1986, the Hudson Valley Dance Theatre provides a much-needed vehicle for the dance, choreographic and related skills acquired by local children and area residents.  The HVDT offers the organizational framework that can support and nurture a sense of community and cooperation to be gained among performers and audiences alike, through dance theatre productions. HVDT is building a repertoire that includes ballet, character, folk, tap and Broadway-style jazz and dance drama.  It is a not-for profit corporation registered by the New York State Department of Education and is supported solely by donations.
