SUPPORT FOR YMCA
The Friends of Kensico Cemetery 5K Run/Walk, held late last year, raised $25,000 to benefit the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester. Over 150 participants and supporters came together for a day of fitness, prizes and community engagement.
The donation from the fundraiser will support the YMCA’s school-based community programs, which provide crucial services to children and families across central and northern Westchester and Putnam counties.
“Thank you to the Friends of Kensico Cemetery, the residents who joined in, the sponsors and the local businesses that helped make this event a success…. “ said Cynthia Delfino Birdsall, president and CEO of the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester.
In addition to the funds raised, the 5K route offered runners and walkers a chance to explore the 460-acre grounds of Kensico Cemetery and see firsthand the unique architecture, historical significance and arboriculture of the 135-year-old institution.
Matthew G. Parisi, president of Kensico Cemetery and the Friends of Kensico Cemetery, expressed gratitude to everyone who participated. “It was heartwarming to see the community come together. We are honored to support the YMCA’s work and look forward to continuing to host events that enrich and strengthen the people of Westchester County.”
The YMCA of Central & Northern Westchester is committed to strengthening the community through values of caring, honesty, respect and social responsibility. It delivers vital programs across northern Westchester and Putnam counties, impacting children and families in schools and community spaces.
