PIONEER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

Sacred Heart University’s Farrington College of Education & Human Development is partnering with Stamford Public Schools (SPS) on a new initiative, the Para Pioneer Program, which will allow SPS to recruit graduate students from its pool of paraprofessionals and substitutes to become special education teachers. SPS pays tuition for the students, and the students complete their Master of Arts degree in teaching at SHU with online courses and a university-supervised in-person yearlong residency in Stamford. The program will be introduced at Cloonan Middle School, 11 W. North St., Stamford, on Monday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m.

As the second-largest Catholic university in New England, and one of the fastest-growing private doctoral institutions in the U.S., Sacred Heart University is a national leader in shaping higher education for the 21st century.
