New master’s degree and advanced certificate program prepare students for leadership roles in hospitality industry
The Fordham School of Professional and Continuing Studies has launched a Hospitality Program to provide aspiring students a pathway to leadership roles in hospitality management, asset management and entrepreneurship. Under the umbrella of the Fordham Real Estate Institute (REI), the Hospitality Program offers a Master of Science in Hospitality degree, an advanced graduate certificate in Hotel Management,
and an advanced graduate certificate in Hospitality Investment and Development. The program is designed to attract students interested in hospitality careers, particularly those who want to advance to senior, executive, entrepreneurial roles within the hospitality industry and understand the real estate and asset management aspects of the industry.
The program aims to provide a comprehensive, cutting-edge curriculum that goes beyond hotel management, said Joshua Harris, the executive director of REI who also is heading the Hospitality Program. “The Hospitality Program is a natural extension of REI,” Harris said. “Hospitality is an integral part of the real estate world and, as global trends alter the travel and tourism landscape, we are seeing a greater demand for professionals educated in hospitality management, investment and development.”
Courses will be offered in-person and online and taught by industry professionals with both practical experience and teaching expertise, covering a range of hospitality-related topics and electives. The program also will benefit from the guidance of an Executive Advisory Council of industry leaders.
