MS. CONNECTICUT SENIOR AMERICA PAGEANT

Robin Kencel was crowned Ms. Connecticut Senior America at the organization’s annual pageant to honor those women who have reached “The Age of Elegance.”

Seven contestants representing towns and cities throughout the state competed for the 2024 title and the opportunity to compete at the Nationals to be held Sept. 29 – Oct. 4 in Atlantic City. Contestants were judged on their philosophy of life, interviews with judges, a talent competition and presentation in an evening gown. Kencel performed a dramatic, contemporary dance to “I Who Have Nothing,”sung by Shirley Bassey in 1963, for her talent performance.

 A six-time Pro-Am American Smooth Ballroom champion, Kencel is a leading real estate broker in Greenwich and has held leadership positions in civic and community organizations in Greenwich and the region for the past 32 years.

Young women who are affiliated with several organizations that Kencel supports, including Bellarmine College, Girls With Impact and Teach for America Connecticut, will accompany her to Connecticut events, when feasible, to help advance intergenerational dialogue and understanding.

“I am honored to have the support of the judges and contestants in this competition that involved many talented women,” Kencel commented. “The platform will give me the chance to realize a dream I have for motivating and encouraging seniors to be curious in their interests, committed to their passions and remain engaged in their larger community.”

The Ms. Connecticut Senior America Pageant began in 1979 with the belief that seniors are the foundation of America and its most valuable treasure. The pageant was held June 2 at Bridgeport’s Bijou Theatre.
