HEALTH LEADER BRINGS EXPERTISE TO STUDENTS
The Larchmont Mamaroneck & Port Chester/Rye Brook Lions recognized and honored more 50 community service groups at their Jan. 12 Points of Light Celebration of Service at the Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck.
Westchester County Legislator Catherine Parker was the keynote speaker. The event was attended by state, local and Lions leaders and leaders of the many service groups being honored at the event.
The focal point of the community service awards was the Lions Jack Coughlin Community Service Awards presented to Jason Summers of the Sandbox Theatre and Mamaroneck High School’s OCRA civics program. Named in memory of long-time Lion and founder of Coughlin Insurance, Jack Coughlin, the award recognizes a group and an individual for outstanding and dedicated service to the Larchmont Mamaroneck community.
The Lions Community Service Award, which recognizes outstanding and dedicated service to the Port Chester/Rye Brook community, was given to Port Chester’s Carver Center.
The Lions also presented the Melvin Jones Fellow to LM Lions President Lina Pasquale. Named after the founder of Lions Clubs, the Lions International Foundation’s Melvin Jones Fellow is given to an individual in acknowledgement of dedicated humanitarian services.
