BANK VP TO CHAIR CENTER AIMED AT BREAKING DOMESTIC ABUSE

Sofia De Carvalho

The Center for Family Justice recently named Trumbull resident Sofia De Carvalho as its new Board of Directors chair. She was previously the board’s vice chair and has been involved with the organization for 10 years.

In announcing De Carvalho’s new position, the organization commented, “Sofia truly believes in making her community better and is always willing to lend a helping hand. We are grateful to Sofia for taking on this responsibility and for her continued support over the past decade.”

De Carvalho organizes the Festival of Hope and tri-chairs Speaking of Women, both of which are significant fundraisers for the organization. In addition, she is the bilingual vice president at M&T Bank.

The organization aims to break the cycle of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and violence in our communities through free and confidential services. It offers 24/7 crisis hotlines, shelter, counseling, court advocacy, prevention education and legal services for victims of domestic and sexual abuse.
