APPOINTMENT TO HELP STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY

Aleida “Ale’” M. Frederico

United Way of Westchester and Putnam (UWWP), located in White Plains, recently announced that Aleida “Ale’” M. Frederico was elected chairperson of its board of directors. Frederico, who has served on the board since 2017, brings over three decades of banking and community development experience to this leadership role, which she assumed in December.

“Aleida’s proven leadership abilities and deep commitment to community service make her the ideal person to guide our organization forward,” said Tom Gabriel, president and CEO.”Her extensive experience in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors, combined with her passionate dedication to strengthening our communities, will be invaluable as we continue to serve Westchester and Putnam counties.”

Frederico previously served as board secretary and vice chair of the diversity, equity and inclusion committee for UWWP. Her appointment follows a distinguished career in banking, including her role as senior relationship manager and vice president at

TD Bank, where she focused on serving public sector customers, not-for-profits, and community development initiatives.

“Building upon the strong foundation established by my predecessors, William M. Mooney III, and Bud Hammer, I’m honored to lead our dedicated board and staff as we advance our mission of strengthening the communities we serve,” said Frederico.

A respected community leader, Frederico currently serves as chair of the Westchester Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and holds appointments on the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council and the Westchester County Industrial Development Agency. She has been recognized with numerous awards, including being named one of Crain’s New York Business 2019 Notable Women in Banking and Finance, and a 2022 Woman of Distinction Honoree for United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s Women’s Leadership Council.

Frederico was born in Placetas, Las Villas, Cuba. She and her husband are residents of White Plains.United Way of Westchester and Putnam (UWWP) is an anti-poverty organization dedicated to improving the lives of 40% of county residents who live in poverty or paycheck to paycheck. United Way supports hundreds of local nonprofits with millions of dollars in grants and essential goods for basic needs, as well as by providing affordable professional development and connecting nonprofits to new resources.
