United Way of Westchester and Putnam (UWWP) will host its annual Applied Underwriters Invitational & Bud Hammer Memorial Day of Golf benefit on Monday, Sept. 14, at the Scarsdale Golf Club in Scarsdale, New York. This signature event serves as a vital fundraiser, helping community members throughout Westchester and Putnam counties access necessities they struggle to afford.
This year’s event pays tribute to the late Bud Hammer, whose name the event proudly bears. A beloved member of the UWWP family and former board chair, Hammer was an avid golfer and tireless community advocate whose passion for giving back left a lasting mark on everyone he knew and on the communities he worked so hard to support.
United Way’s Day of Golf will also honor Pleasantville, New York, resident Joe McCoy, market president of commercial banking at Valley National Bank, for his outstanding leadership and dedicated service to the Westchester and Putnam communities.
McCoy has more than 25 years of banking and financial services experience, leading a dynamic team of commercial bankers serving small to middle-market and privately held companies throughout the Hudson Valley, the Bronx, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. A respected business leader and community advocate, McCoy has been recognized for his impact across the region, earning a place on both the Westchester Power 100 and the Hudson Valley Power 100. Deeply committed to civic engagement, he serves on the boards of Yonkers Partners in Education (YPIE), The Business Council of Westchester, and ArtsWestchester, and is an active mentor through YPIE’s Scholar Program at Gorton High School, helping to guide and inspire the next generation of leaders. McCoy exemplifies the spirit of community investment that United Way of Westchester and Putnam works to foster every day.
