ADDITION TO HEALTH-FOCUSED NONPROFIT BOARD

Vladimir Makatsaria

Vladimir Makatsaria recently joined the board of directors of Americares in Stamford, a nonprofit dedicated to saving lives and improving health for people affected by poverty or disaster. He brings nearly three decades of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry.

Makatsaria currently serves as CEO and board member of LivaNova, a global medical device company. He is also a board member of the Advanced Medical Technology Association.

Christine Squires, Americares president and CEO, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Vladimir to our Board of Directors. He has a proven track record of delivering results and driving innovation and we are confident that he will provide valuable perspective as we continue to bolster our Medicine Security Program to ensure more families in need have access to the most essential medications.”

Before his role at LivaNova, Makatsaria worked at Johnson & Johnson for nearly 30 years where he held the role of company group chairman overseeing Ethicon, a prominent player in the global surgical technologies market. He also held executive leadership roles for Johnson & Johnson China, Johnson & Johnson MedTech Asia-Pacific, and Ethicon’s Europe, Middle East and Africa division.

Americares is number nine on the Forbes 2023 list of Top 100 Charities. It helps communities prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters; increase the accessibility and affordability of medicine and medical supplies; provide health care for low-income, uninsured patients; and strengthen local health centers.

Makatsaria commented, “For nearly five decades, Americares has been working to save lives and improve health for people around the world. I am honored to join the Americares board and look forward to helping advance its mission.”
