Visant buys VSI’s slide business
Visant Corp. has acquired Visual Systems Inc., which sells overhead transparency slides and plastic book covers.
Visual Systems has approximately 100 employees at its Milwaukee headquarters.
Visant was formed in 2004 following the triple merger of Jostens Inc., Arcade Marketing and Van Hoffmann Corp., selling class rings, yearbooks and various promotional services.
In May, the Armonk company sold off its Van Hoffmann educational textbook line to R.R. Donnelly & Sons Co. for $413 million.
In March, Visant acquired Neff Holding Co., a Greenville, Ohio, company that sells varsity letters and jackets to school teams.
In the first quarter, Visant had a $1 million loss on $259 million in revenue.
