Number crunchers join forces
Marks Paneth & Shron L.L.P. (MP&S) of Manhattan, the 28th-largest accounting firm in the United States and 15th largest in the tri-state area, has announced that Platt, Barth, Elson & Steinman P.C., a Tarrytown-based firm, has merged into MP&S. The merged firm will operate under the name of Marks Paneth & Shron.
While MP&S has an existing presence in Westchester, the addition of Platt, Barth, Elson & Steinman adds resources and allows MP&S to provide additional services to clients in the northern suburbs, said Mark Levenfus, managing partner of MP&S.
“Because of the similarities between our two firms, merging with the professionals of Platt, Barth, Elson & Steinman was a natural step,” Levenfus said. “This merger enables us to deliver on our commitment to clients to improve the service we offer them through an expanding menu of highly specialized tax, accounting and consulting services that keep pace with their evolving needs.”
As a result of the merger, the two Platt, Barth, Elson & Steinman P.C. partners, Paul Elson and Marshall Steinman, and their staff will join the 56 partners and principals and more than 400 additional staff members of MP&S.
“We are delighted to be joining forces with MP&S,” said Elson. “This merger capitalizes on our synergies while growing our resources and expanding our service portfolio.”
The Platt, Barth, Elson & Steinman team will remain at their 660 White Plains Road address in Tarrytown. MP&S partner Richard Hecht will work with the partners of Platt, Barth, Elson & Steinman P.C. to facilitate the integration at the Westchester location.
