Winsted Citizen acquired by trade publishing firm
The Winsted Citizen, the Ralph Nader-founded Litchfield County monthly newspaper which shut down last week after publishing nine editions, has received a reprise after being acquired by American Business Media, a trade media publishing company based in Simsbury, Connecticut.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Andy Thibault, the publisher and editor of the Winsted Citizen, will continue to lead the newspaper, which will retain its publishing schedule.
American Business Media produces magazines, websites and trade conferences focuses on the mortgage banking industry. The Winsted Citizen is the company’s first consumer-facing publication, and CEO Vince Valvo declared his company will “expand and strengthen how this publication connects with residents. It’s the only way for modern community journalism to thrive.”
