With $100 million in new funding, a company is creating a mobile network in Connecticut and other parts of the Northeast offering unlimited service for a flat monthly fee and no contract.

Pocket Communications Inc. received the investment from Battery Ventures of Waltham, Mass. Founded in 2006, the company runs a similar network in Texas where it is based.

Pocket Communications allows unlimited calls and text messages, charging between $30 and $45 monthly depending on features.

AT&T Inc., T-Mobile and Verizon Communications Inc. began offering unlimited wireless plans last winter starting at $100, and smaller companies like Leap Wireless are doing so, as well, at lower prices.
