Castle Conversations, the college”™s subscription-based speakers forum, brings journalists, scientists and historians to the community, according to a statement.

“No other forum like this exists here, and we want the speakers to stimulate discussions in Westchester and Fairfield counties about the radically changing world in which we live,” said Jon C. Strauss, president of Manhattanville College. “It is our way of reaching out to the community, building relationships and sharing with our neighbors the ideas of the brightest minds in America.”

Huffington, the first speaker of the series, is a nationally syndicated columnist and author of fourteen books. She has been named to Time magazine”™s list of the world”™s 100 most influential people and the Forbes most powerful women list. In 2012, The Huffington Post, the news and blog site Huffington launched in 2005, won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting.

Originally from Greece, Huffington moved to England when she was 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an M.A. in economics.
