The Most Cat Friendly US City Is…
In observance of Aug. 8 at International Cat Day, LawnStarter released its ranking of 2023ââĒs Best Cities for Cat Lovers.
The survey compared the 200 biggest U.S. cities based on four categories ââ access to animal shelters, veterinarian care access, cat-friendly housing and affordability.
According to the survey, a city known for a world-famous mouse was the best for cat lovers: Orlando, Florida. Rounding out the top five were Knoxville, Tennessee; Las Vegas; Santa Rosa, California; and St. Louis.
At the other end of the spectrum, Detroit was considered the worst city for cat lovers. Other cities where felines may have a challenging life are Miramar, Florida; Springfield, Massachusetts; Hialeah, Florida; and Paterson, New Jersey.
One surprise in the survey may have been that nine of the 10 most affordable cities for cat owners were in California, which is the second most expensive U.S. state. However, LawnStarted pointed out that the average California household income was the sixth highest in the nation, thus enabling many residents to spend generously on their cats.
