Westchester County’s Student Advocacy will host its 29th annual “Overcoming the Odds (OTO) Awards Celebration” on Wednesday, May 22, at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers.

The event – which takes place at The Barbara Walters Campus Center at 6 p.m., with WNBC meteorologist Dave Price as emcee – will spotlight five students who have triumphed over challenges to excel academically and affect their communities in beneficial ways.

Founded in 1982 and led by a board that is predominantly made up of women lawyers and supporters, Student Advocacy is devoted to advancing and protecting the educational rights of all students, especially those who have been marginalized due to learning or physical disabilities, mental health issues and other challenges. Services are provided at no cost to families, with the focus on students from low-income backgrounds.
