Stamford set for Connecticut’s first technology conference
The first “CT Tech Week,” designed to celebrate Connecticut’s technology ecosystem, will begin with a two-day event – Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 6, in Stamford.
“We have so much to offer start-ups looking for the right place to build their company, and it is a priority for us to showcase all of our assets from our highly educated workforce,” said Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons.
June 5 is Pitch Night, with an opening party, hosted at The Village Stamford from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. On June 6, there are all-day events at GE Appliances, CoCreate, a Haier company, beginning with the “Mayor’s Breakfast & Fireside Chat” at 8:30 a.m. The panel events include “Quantum Revolution: Unlocking the Power of a Transformative Technology”; “Investing in Connecticut: Exploring Opportunities and Strategies With Leading Investors”; “Tech Start-Up: From Formation to Financing”; and the “Food Incubator Showcase.” The day concludes with the “CT Tech Week Happy Hour” at T’s Wine Bar + Kitchen at 6 p.m.
“This event will serve as a platform for start-ups, entrepreneurs, investors, educators, government officials and tech enthusiasts to convene, share ideas and drive forward the growth of the local tech industry,” said Marie Rocha, founder of Realist Lab, which is presenting the conference in collaboration with GE Appliances, CoCreate; The Stamford Partnership; The Village Foundation; and the city of Stamford. “The overarching goal of ‘CT Tech Week’ is to showcase the innovation, talent and opportunities within the Connecticut tech community, foster collaboration among industry stakeholders and attract investment and talent to the region.”
“We’re kicking off something big for Connecticut with ‘CT Tech Week,’” added Isis-Rae Goulbourne, founder of City Events Group, which is sponsoring the conference, along with Bullish and The Connecticut Department of Community and Economic Development. “We are starting small this year, but our goal is to grow this initiative over the next decade into one of the region’s largest and most economically beneficial conferences. We’re excited to spotlight Connecticut’s thriving tech ecosystem and give it the platform it deserves.”
