From “Home Makeover” to “Love It Or List It” to “100 Day Dream Home,” making the most of our imperfect living spaces is great TV and big business to boot. But as anyone who has attempted any kind of substantial home improvement or remodeling knows, it’s a giant leap from sitting on the couch in your uncomfortable but familiar old living room, watching “makeover porn,” to taking the first step and calling in the contractors.

That’s where Remodeling Consultants, a 60-year-old family business based in Mamaroneck with a satellite office in Stamford, comes in. Specializing in complex large-scale renovations, reimagined home spaces, first- and second-floor additions, gourmet kitchens and primary suites, Remodeling Consultants operates with what it calls a “total-control” model to ensure homeowners’ satisfaction. Its commitment to delivering quality projects on time and within budget has earned it a five-star approval rating from the many partners it has worked with over the years.

Every area of your home, interior and exterior, is “your own special environment,” said the Richards – company president Richard Zaccaria and Richard E. Davis III, vice president and manager of design, sales and architecture. (They are partners in the business with company Secretary Jerome Zacccaria Jr., the Zaccarias being the sons of Jerome Sr., who founded Remodeling Consultants.) “It’s a place you should look forward to enjoying and living in every day.”

The company offers both interior and exterior remodeling services, which allows its home renovation experts to give clients a trouble-free home design – “trouble-free” being the all-important factor. Because while we’d all like to be able to call in a pair like “Property Brothers” Drew and Jonathan Scott, or “Kitchen Cousins” Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri, the reality is that homeowners usually end up handing the job to a disparate group of specialists who, while fine in their fields, don’t communicate with one another. That’s an approach that can add time, money and a lot of aggravation to a remodeling project.

Not so at Remodeling Consultants, whose watchwords are “professionalism, responsiveness, clear communication, guidance and stability.” Indeed, stability counts for a lot with the company, where Zaccaria has been for 40 years, 30 of them following his passion as a design consultant. Davis, who studied architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston and joined Remodeling Consultants more than 26 years ago, was trained by Jerome Sr. himself and has his own client base.

Testimonials, meanwhile, come in thick and fast. One family from Westport thanked “everyone at RC for the outstanding job performed on the extensive renovation,” while “keep(ing) the charm of (our) 1803 home.” Other clients, from Fairfield, mentioned how the entire project was completed “on time and within budget.” And then there’s Mr. Robins of Larchmont, who commented: “They were great. Our kids were so sad to see them leave. I think that says it all.”

Well, maybe not all, but a great deal – that’s for sure.
