FreshDirect, the metro-area online grocer, celebrates Women’s History Month with these women-owned food businesses:

White Moustache — Homa Dashtaki, founder and owner of White Moustache Yogurt, was inspired to name the company after her father’s distinctive facial hair. A former attorney turned foodie, she gives credit to Brooklyn, and its welcoming attitude toward food production, for working with her company and allowing her to make yogurt, which she sells through FreshDirect. Besides a signature Persian yogurt, she offers a Greek yogurt, with special flavors like date and labneh.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUwT8m86Ig8

Brooklyn Delhi – Chitra Agrawal and Ben Garthis are the co-founders of Brooklyn Delhi, based in Kingston, New York. A passionate home cook seeking to blend her Indian culture with her New Jersey upbringing, Agrawal created original recipes that fused Indian flavors and American cuisine. The brand’s sauces, part of Fresh Direct since 2017, can be paired with rice or curry or used as a condiment on most anything — burgers, eggs, sandwiches, tacos, chicken or ramen.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWY5yo8w2Ow&t=6s

Loi — From its tzatziki dip to its Mediterranean sundried figs, Loi celebrates the Greek culinary heritage of chef and founder Maria Loi.

Omsom – Sisters Vanessa and Kim Pham founded the brand, which boasts “loud, proud Asian flavors,” in tribute to their parents, Vietnamese refugees, and the meals their mother cooked every night from scratch.

Said a FreshDirect spokeswoman: “Our commitment to supporting women-owned businesses goes beyond just a month of recognition, and we take pride in fostering a diverse community of vendors. This Women’s History Month, we invite you to join us in celebrating these trailblazing entrepreneurs and their contributions to the world of food.”
