15 Parkview opens
A new apartment building has opened at 15 Parkview Ave., Bronxville, at the Yonkers/Bronxville line. It’s at the site where a previous building, The Yorkshire, had suffered a fire that broke out in an apartment on the sixth floor that was being renovated. The fire quickly spread and broke through the roof. It was fought by firefighters from several communities.
The new building created by Elk Homes offers 60 apartments, including 20 one-bedroom units, 35 two-bedroom units and five three-bedroom units. Twenty of the apartments have an additional den, and 15 of the apartments have either a terrace or a walkout patio. The building offers amenities including a fitness center, rooftop and ground-level terraces, a pet bath, package delivery lockers, 64 enclosed parking spaces with available EV chargers, and a common work area space with Wi-Fi access.
“15 Parkview is the new standard for Westchester living,” said Gary Hirsch, CEO of Elk Homes. “We’re so excited to be at the heart of Bronxville and bring a new living experience to this wonderful community.”
Based in Rye, Elk Homes has more than two decades of experience in apartment rentals.
Rents at 15 Parkview range from $3,900 to $7,200 per month. Elk says that the new building “marks the first upscale rental development in Garrett Park and Bronxville in decades, ushering in a new era of contemporary living for the community.”
Following the fire in The Yorkshire, a previous entity owning the property had proposed erecting a new building featuring modern architecture. It said that repairing and renovating the existing structure was not practical.
The proposal ran into opposition from Yonkers officials who had jurisdiction on a proposal for the site as well as neighbors for being out of character with other apartment buildings in the community. They said that it would be appropriate to erect a structure that echoed the architectural look of the existing apartment buildings and also was similar to The Yorkshire’s brick and stone exterior.
Elk Homes noted that the development is located in the heart of the Garrett Park neighborhood and is in close proximity to a wide variety of shopping and dining options on Pondfield Road and Central Park Avenue as well as the Ridge Hill and Cross County shopping centers.
