Just a week after opening a facility in Corona, Calif., Pitney Bowes has opened its International Mail Services Facility in the United Kingdom.
The facility is in Hayes, part of the Greater London area.
“Our new facility in the United Kingdom will offer opportunities for mailers to increase the effectiveness of their mailings while reducing postage costs,” said John Ward, president of mail services with Stamford-based Pitney Bowes. “The close proximity of our Hayes site to London Heathrow Airport will enable Pitney Bowes to help expedite customers”™ mailings around the world.”
Pitney Bowes, a mailstream technology company, has setup a 34,000-square-foot center that will initially employ 55 people.
The facility has the daily capacity to process 60,000 pounds of mail, marketing material, publications and parcels, Ward said.
The company”™s postal direct service will benefit greatly from the presence of the new facility, Ward said.
Pitney Bowes”™ California facility, which opened earlier in January, was also intended to expand the business international mail services capabilities as well as its domestic business.
“Our new, state-of-the-art facility will also allow us to expand our mail services capabilities to better serve our growing customer base in the future,” said Ward of the California facility. The site has the annual capacity to pre-sort more than 750 million pieces of standard-class letter mail.
The new California facility is an 84,000-square-foot center and now employs about 100 people.
Founded in 1920, Pitney Bowes handles 14 billion pieces of mail per year through its 37 facilities across the United States and has a presence in 215 countries, with revenues that now total $6.4 billion.
