Manhattanville hosts annual sports business career fair

Job opportunities in a roughly $400 billion American industry will be the focus of the seventh annual Sports Business Career Fair this month at Manhattanville College in Purchase.

The event, developed by the college”™s sport business management degree program, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 21 at Reid Castle on the Manhattanville Road campus.

A panel of human resources executives will offer perspectives on employment in their respective sport businesses at 10 a.m. Moderated by sports executive and recruiter Keith Cutler, executive recruiter at MiCa Sports and co-founder of Sports Central, the panel will include  Alyssa Adelson, talent acquisition director at Octagon, a Norwalk, Conn.-based sports and event marketing and talent representation company; Miguel Zurita, head of talent acquisition at NBC Sports Group; Marybeth Interdonato, senior human resources manager at the U.S. Tennis Association; and Mike Smith, National Football League senior vice president for human resources.

Manhattanville officials said more than 30 hiring managers will be on hand as exhibitors representing sports teams, leagues, associations, event venues and agencies.

“Based on the sport business curriculum we have developed, our convenient location and relationships with the sports business leaders, hosting events like this is a natural,” said David Torromeo, executive director of the sport business program at Manhattanville, “and we believe offering these events provides an invaluable tool for the industry and for students interested in a career in sports, and represents an important step in promoting awareness of opportunities in an exciting, growing, competitive marketplace.”

Along with its 8-year-old sport business management master”™s degree program, the college has expanded its offerings with a sport studies undergraduate program.
