Scenes from the Dutchess County Fair

The Dutchess County Fair is an affair of the senses.

The smoky gantlet of food concessions offers up crunchy, chewy, sugary, salty, hot, sweet, frozen, melting delights.

Enter the sour-smelling barns and touch the coarse, soft, hairy, furry animals who moo, neigh, baa and oink.

The attendance numbers were not compiled yet, but the last day of the fair drew thousands as evidenced by the miles of backed up cars along Routes 9 and 9G. Close to a half-million visited the event last year.
