For the last 17 years, Young has been with Parkland College, a community college in Champaign, Ill., where she most recently served as vice president for academic services. She started there in 1998 as a chemistry instructor.

The national search for Richards”™ replacement started in October, according to a statement from SUNY Orange.

Young will officially assume her post June 8. She will be at the helm for the beginning of a new, five-year strategic plan that the college’s trustees are forming.

During her tenure at Parkland, Young helped create two strategic plans for the college, co-created a dual-enrollment program with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and helped establish a dual-credit technical education program with high schools in the area.

Young will live in Goshen, which is minutes from the school”™s campus in Middletown.
