Delta subsidiary laying off 28 employees at Stewart International Airport

Delta Global Services, a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines Inc., will lay off 28 employees at Stewart International Airport in New Windsor.

The company filed a WARN notice with the state Department of Labor on May 5 that blamed the layoffs on the loss of a contract with SkyWest Airlines Inc. Delta Global Services handles staffing needs for airlines and other companies.

A Delta spokesperson confirmed the layoffs and said the employees had provided customer service, baggage handling and other flight services as part of the contract.

“DGS is working with those employees impacted by this transition to identify other opportunities within DGS as well as other positions at the airport,” the spokesperson said in an email.

The layoffs are scheduled to happen by August, according to the company’s notice to the state.
