Bus company to lay off 102 workers
A Peekskill bus company announced that it is closing its plant in June, laying off 102 employees.
Mile Square Transportation Inc., at 5 John Walsh Boulevard, filed a WARN notice with the state Labor Department, announcing its plans. The company cited economics as the reason for its closing, which is effective June 21.
Mile Square is the second Westchester bus company in as many weeks to lay off employees. Last week, Mount Vernon-based Mar-Can Transportation Co. Inc. and B-Alert Inc., owned by the same company, announced layoffs, due to losing a New York City Department of Education contract.
