Army Veteran Performs at Music Conservatory
Samuel Wansley, an 82-year-old U.S. Army veteran, performed at White Plains-based Music Conservatory of Westchester”™s Jazz Brunch at the Larchmont Shore Club. A combat engineer in the Korean and Vietnam wars, Wansley is a recipient of the conservatory”™s “Healing Our Heroes” scholarships for veterans. Since its inception, the Healing Our Heroes program has served 22 veterans, in total providing 860 music therapy sessions to four women and 18 men who served in Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq or Afghanistan, receiving traumatic brain injuries, chronic pain from physical injuries and stress-related anxiety.
