White Plains Hospital honored for quality care
White Plains Hospital recently received recognition as a top performer in quality care by the Joint Commission, a national nonprofit that certifies more than 20,000 health care organizations in America.
The Joint Commission designated the Top Performer on Key Quality Measures award to 1,099 hospitals in the nation. White Plains received the recognition for excellence in using reliable clinical processes to improve care for heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia and surgeries.
The top performers represented 33 percent of commission-accredited hospitals reporting accountability and performance data last year.
Safety and reliability are two reasons White Plains Hospital gets accredited, said Michael Palumbo, executive vice president and medical director at the hospital.
“We understand that what matters most to patients at White Plains Hospital is safe, effective care,” Palumbo said. “That”™s why we have made a commitment to accreditation and to positive patient outcomes through evidence-based care processes.”
