Vassar Brothers, NDH earn awards
Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie received an award for Cardiac Surgery Excellence for the third year in a row and Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck was recognized for joint replacement excellence for the second year in a row.
HealthGrades, the leading independent health care ratings organization, made the awards. The awards place both hospitals among the top 5 percent in the nation for these programs.
The recognition is based on HealthGrades”™ twelfth annual Hospital Quality in America study, which analyzes patient outcomes at virtually all of the nation”™s hospitals. Further highlighting the quality performance of both hospitals, Northern Dutchess also received the Outstanding Patient Experience Award for the second year in a row, while Vassar Brothers received the Coronary Intervention Excellence Award in 2010.
Health Quest CEO Michael Weber congratulated both hospitals on a job well done.
“Vassar Brothers”™ continued ranking as among the top 5 percent in the U.S. for such a wide range of services, from cardiac surgery and coronary intervention to maternity care, demonstrates our continued commitment and success in providing the best care to patients in the Hudson Valley,” said Dr. Daniel Aronzon, CEO of Vassar Brothers.
“Each day, we focus on quality and value for our patients. Our Outstanding Patient Experience Award as well as maternity care and orthopedic recognitions from HealthGrades demonstrate the significant progress Northern Dutchess Hospital has made and sustained on a local, state and national level,” said Denise George, president and CEO of Northern Dutchess.
HealthGrades”™ hospital ratings and awards reflect the track record of patient outcomes at hospitals in the form of mortality and complication rates. HealthGrades rates hospitals independently based on data that hospitals submit to the federal government. No hospital can opt in or out of being rated, and no hospital pays to be rated.
