Survey names Vassar Brothers best place to work

Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie is “The Best Place to Work,” according to Advance for Nurses, a biweekly regional magazine for the nursing community.

In a second-annual readers”™ choice survey, Vassar was selected as one of the “top hospitals” in the greater New York and New Jersey metropolitan area.

Several factors; including quality of care, organizational culture, professional development, communication and retention efforts determined the results of the survey.

Advance for Nurses”™ readers were asked to rank facilities in the various categories.

“As a physician, I understand that doctors may treat patients, but nurses really care for them,” said Daniel Aronzon, president and CEO of Vassar Brothers Medical Center and a physician. “Nothing is more critical to successful outcomes than a talented, supportive and committed nursing staff. To be receiving this recognition as a ”˜best place to work”™ from nurses who know about our culture and our commitment to their success means a great deal.”

Vassar Brothers received the ranking for scoring 4 or higher on a 1-5 scale in all five survey categories.

“Our goal is to recruit and retain the absolute highest quality staff and to create an environment where they feel empowered to advocate for themselves and our patients,” Aronzon said. “This award demonstrates our success.”
