New leader at New Rochelle hospital
A veteran administrator at New York City hospitals has been named vice president and executive director to lead Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, the former Sound Shore Medical Center facility acquired in bankruptcy this year by Montefiore Health Systems in the Bronx.
Anthony Alfano will lead Montefiore New Rochelle. Montefiore officials will appoint a second executive director at Montefiore Mount Vernon, formerly Mount Vernon Hospital of Sound Shore Health System.
Alfano previously was senior vice president and chief operating officer at New York Downtown Hospital, where he was recognized for successfully merging the hospital within the New York Presbyterian Healthcare System. Before that, he served on senior leadership teams at Brooklyn Hospital Center and Saint Vincent”™s Catholic Medical Center. He also has held executive posts in human resources, information technology and general management at firms that include Reuters Information Technology, Mobil Corp. and Pfizer.
Susan Green Lorenzen, Montefiore senior vice president for operations, in an announcement said Alfano throughout his hospital career “has demonstrated strong management skills and leadership in partnering with physician leaders to build programs that meet local needs and build patient satisfaction.”
His appointment is effective immediately.
