Jewish games come to Westchester

 

 

 

A year from now, 5,000 athletes, coaches and spectators are expected to visit WestchesterCounty for the largest organized sports program for Jewish teens in the world.  The JCC of Mid-Westchester in Scarsdale.  This is the first time the games will be held in Westchester.

 

“With all these visitors, local restaurants, hotels and shops are certain to see an increase in tourism dollars,” said Stephen Young, executive director of JCC of Mid-Westchester. “The games will also provide the opportunity to showcase the county”™s attractions and facilities to visitors and delegations from all over the world.”

The game”™s organizers plan to use as many Westchester suppliers for items like food, athletic equipment and printing services as is possible.

 

Athletes will be competing in 11 sports to include: basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball, softball, swimming, bowling, golf, tennis, dance and in-line hockey.

 

The Westchester 2009 JCC Maccabi Games are looking to secure host families, volunteers and sponsors throughout Westchester County. announced it will host the 2009 JCC Maccabi Games, scheduled for August 16-21, 2009.
