Health care nonprofit honored
Open Door Family Medical Center in Ossining is a bronze prize winner in the 2012 New York Community Trust-New York Magazine Nonprofit Excellence Awards. The community agency provides health care and human services to low-income and underserved Westchester residents and those lacking access to health care.
Lindsay Farrell, Open Door president & CEO, and David K. Sherman, chair of the center”™s foundation board and treasurer of its operating board, accepted the award and a $5,000 prize at a Nov. 15 ceremony in Manhattan.
Each winner also received scholarships, valued at a total of $18,000, toward tuition at the Columbia University Business School”™s Programs in Social Enterprise in Executive Education.
Open Door is the first Westchester winner in the six-year history of the awards.
