Amazon debuts RxPass, offering low-cost medications for Prime members

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) has rolled out its RxPass initiative that is designed to give members of Amazon Prime access to low-cost medications.

The program, which is coordinated by Amazon Pharmacy, encompasses commonly prescribed generic medications covering more than 80 common health conditions. Prime members can receive all eligible medications plus free delivery for a monthly $5 fee.

In addition to RxPass, Amazon Pharmacy allows Prime members to receive discounts for up to 80% off generic drugs and 40% off brand name medications at more than 60,000 participating pharmacies nationwide. For that service, Prime members pay $14.99 per month or $139 per year, and the price covers free two-day shipping from Amazon Pharmacy.
