White Plains names Christopher Gomez planning commissioner

Christopher Gomez was appointed White Plains planning commissioner at Monday night’s meeting of the White Plains Common Council.

Previous to the appointment, Gomez served as the director of planning and development for Port Chester, where he played a role in the waterfront revitalization plan that was adopted to redevelop the area of the village adjacent to the Long Island Sound.

Gomez replaces Elizabeth Cheteny, who held the planning commissioner’s post for just more than two years and was fired in January for reasons not disclosed to the public.

Gomez has also served as a co-manager in the Westchester County planning department and as the county’s historic preservation planner. He was also a transportation planner with the New York City Department of Transportation.

Gomez will take his post July 7, and his salary will be $145,000.
