Westchester County to hold wellness fair for seniors
Businesses and nonprofit organizations are invited to exhibit at the 47th annual Salute to Seniors sponsored by Westchester County government agencies on May 6 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
The informational and entertainment event will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
With 17 exhibitor booths, this year”™s Health and Wellness Fair will offer nutrition assessments, skin care and dental care information, tai chi exercises and more to visiting seniors.
County officials said a business expo will include more than 90 vendors with products and services for seniors and caregivers as well as representatives from county and state agencies.
Afternoon entertainment will include performers impersonating the Hollywood “Rat Pack” trio, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. Also featured will be a film presentation of active senior programs available in the county, in keeping with this year”™s national theme for Older Americans Month in May, “Get into the Act.”
Lunches are available but registration is required by calling 914-813-6416 or 914-813-6449. Lunch reservations are due by April 21. Sponsors suggest a meal contribution of $4 per person. Businesses and nonprofit organizations can sign up to exhibit at the business expo by downloading the expo application form at seniorcitizens.westchestergov.com or by calling 914-747-0519. County officials said price rates for exhibit booths will go up after Friday.
The Salute to Seniors is sponsored by the county Department of Senior Programs and Services and the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services and is co-sponsored by the county”™s parks, recreation and conservation, public works and transportation departments.
