New Rochelle Fire Dept. lieutenant named to county Human Rights Commission

County Executive Robert P. Astorino has appointed Mark Lee McLean, a New Rochelle Fire Department lieutenant and an active member of the NAACP New Rochelle Chapter, to the Westchester County Human Rights Commission.

McLean is one of 15 members who oversee the county”™s Human Rights Commission. The commission reviews cases regarding allegations of discrimination for the county and accordingly investigates, uncovers and prosecutes violations of the County Human Rights Law and related laws.

The commission also offers education and advocacy to help foster good race and ethnic relations among diverse individuals and groups, and they promote and support opportunities for equality in employment, housing, public accommodation, schools, credit and other areas.

Most recently the county began sharing its Human Rights Commission with Yonkers. This will save the city $100,000 annually.
