New exec for Pattern

Pattern for Progress is gaining a new vice president. John Tully will join the nine-county think tank as vice president of research, planning and advocacy.

Tully has been Putnam County”™s deputy executive since 2006, overseeing cost-saving initiatives as well as major capital projects, including its new courthouse, technology infrastructure, as well as highway and environmental projects.

He served as liaison with the Putnam County Legislature and represented the administration”™s position with local and state governments and agencies, and advised County Executive Bob Bondi on issues of fiscal impact. Bondi has decided not to seek another term in November.

Prior to his appointment as deputy county executive, Tully served as the county”™s auditor, deputy commissioner of finance and director of purchasing for information technology.

Tully who graduated from Niagara University with a degree in business management, attended the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

“I have always been extremely impressed by John. He worked his way up through the ranks, gaining both respect and knowledge from the people he served with. As deputy county executive, he used this knowledge to accomplish much on behalf of the people,” Bondi said.
