Democrat Josh Riley announces new run against Rep. Molinaro for 19th District seat

Josh Riley, the Democratic candidate who lost last November”™s race for New York”™s 19th Congressional District by less than two points to Republican Marc Molinaro, has announced he will seek the seat again in 2024.

“I’m running for Congress because Upstate NYers deserve better than politics-as-usual,” Riley said in a statement announcing his candidacy. “Corrupt career politicians and special interests have sold out Upstate New York families. That has to change.”

Riley”™s career has been rooted in Washington, D.C.-based law firms and federal politics: he was a staff assistant to former U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey”™s office and served as a policy analyst with the U.S. Department of Labor and counsel on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. In announcing his new bid, he posted endorsements from 20 Democratic Party county chairpersons across the 19th District.

“We built an incredible movement for change in 2022, and I know we can finish the job in November 2024,” he added.
