Cuomo nominates MTA chairman

Thomas Prendergast is set to be the new head of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Prendergast was nominated to be the chairman and CEO of the MTA, having been the MTA interim executive director since January and previously serving as president of MTA New York City transit, running the subway and bus system.

Prendergast replaces Joseph Lhota, who left to run for New York City mayor.

“The MTA will improve the customer experience, operate more efficiently and build for the future,” Prendergast said in a statement.
