A new executive order signed by Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz stated that anyone who does not follow the state”™s mandate on wearing a face covering as part of the Covid-19 mitigation effort must “provide written documentation that the person is qualified for the exemption from a licensed medical provider, the Department of Developmental Services or other state agency that provides or supports services for people with emotional, intellectual or physical disabilities, or a person authorized by any such agency.”

The executive order added that this documentation does not need to identify the medical condition that prevents the individual from putting on a face covering.

Bysiewicz’s order also expanded the mask mandate to include passengers that use mass transit and ride sharing and taxi services, as well as individuals waiting for service in transit stations.

Furthermore, the executive order also enables the Department of Economic and Community Development to “issue or amend Sector Rules to establish size limits for private gatherings of people who do not live in the same household, regardless of whether such gathering has been organized by a business.”
