Bridgeport extends contract with wastewater facility operator
The City of Bridgeport’s Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) Board has approved a 10.5-year agreement with Inframark LLC to continue operating its wastewater treatment facilities.
Inframark has been the WPCA’s third-party operator for the last 10 years. Under the new agreement which will take effect on Jan. 1, 2024, the WPCA stated that it will achieve a savings of approximately $6 million per year relative to the existing operating agreement, which translates into a 15% savings in the agency’s total annual expenses.
“In a world where expenses continue to increase with inflation, Bridgeport rate-payers will benefit from a cost reduction under this new contract,” said Mayor Joe Ganim in a press statement, adding that the agreement was “truly a ‘win-win’ situation for the city, its residents, and the environment.”
