Bramson enters county executive race

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson announced this morning that he is seeking the Democratic nomination for Westchester County Executive against Republican Rob Astorino in next year”™s election.

“We need a county executive with a coherent vision for growing our economy and attracting new jobs, for cutting government waste and inefficiency, and for making good on our commitment to seniors, children, and working parents,” said Bramson in a statement.

Bramson vowed that as county executive, he would grow the economy, attract new jobs and reduce waste in government.

“During the past three years, these priorities have been neglected,” said Bramson. “For Westchester to remain a vibrant place to raise a family, find a job, and enjoy a rewarding life, the county executive must be willing to lead.”

Bramson has received support from Congresswoman Nita Lowey and Assemblywoman Amy Paulin. Branson was elected to the city council in 1995 and has served as mayor since 2006.

Legislator Bill Ryan has also announced that he will seek the Democratic nomination.
