Westchester enters settlement with Starbucks over failure to post drink prices
Westchester”™s Department of Consumer Protection has announced an agreement with Starbucks over the coffeeshop chain”™s failure to post the prices on several of its drink offerings at 19 of its locations across the county.
Under the terms of the agreement, Starbucks will pay a $4,500 settlement to Westchester County and provide a donation of $4,500 to the Greyston Foundation Inc., which funds the Greyston Bakery in Yonkers that provides job opportunities for former prison inmates reentering society.
“Knowing what an item costs before paying for it is a basic consumer right and Westchester”™s long-established consumer laws recognize those rights,” said County Executive George Latimer. “Our objective is to make sure that consumers are in a position to make informed decisions before making a purchase.”
