Stew Leonard’s recalls chicken products over undeclared milk ingredient
The Stew Leonard’s supermarket chain announced it was voluntarily recalling its chicken salad and sliced chicken because the products may contain undeclared milk as part of its ingredients.
While no illnesses have been reported to date, the chain warned that people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk are at risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The products were sold in Stew Leonard’s deli department between last August and Jan. 29. The recalled items are:
• Sliced and Shaved Chicken
• Sliced and Shaved Buffalo Chicken
• Chicken Salad
• Chicken Salad Sub Sandwich
• Buffalo Chicken Salad
• Boom Boom Chicken Salad
• Cape Cod Chicken Salad
• Lite Chicken Salad
The products were sold at Stew Leonard’s seven locations – the Connecticut stores in Danbury, Norwalk, and Newington; the New York stores in East Meadow, Farmingdale, and Yonkers; and the New Jersey store in Paramus. Only the Cape Cod Chicken Salad and the Lite Chicken Salad were sold at Stew Leonard’s in Norwalk.
